Product Description

1997 Ford F-800 Heavy-Duty Dump Truck – 5.9L 12-Valve Cummins Diesel – ONLY 64,000 MILES – Dual-Ram Hoist – Heavy Steel Dump Body Here is an extremely hard-to-find older medium-duty Ford that was built during one of the best eras for simple, durable commercial diesel equipment. This 1997 Ford F-800 is powered by the legendary 5.9-liter Cummins inline-six 12-valve diesel, with only 64,000 original miles. The 1997 F-800 was offered with the Cummins 5.9L diesel, and comparable configurations were rated up to approximately 230 horsepower depending on specification. The real attraction here is the combination of the mechanically simple Cummins diesel powertrain and a serious commercial dump setup. This is an older work truck without the complicated modern diesel emissions equipment found on newer trucks. The truck is equipped with a heavy-duty steel Heil dump body with tall sides, heavy rear tailgate, and a substantial underbody hoist. From the photos, the dump system uses a heavy-duty dual hydraulic ram/cylinder arrangement, providing excellent lifting geometry for demanding loads. The underside shows a substantial structural framework designed for commercial dump service. The bed itself shows normal cosmetic wear and surface rust from actual use but appears to be a seriously built commercial body. The manufacturer’s door label shows August 1996 production, 9,000-lb front GAWR, 21,000-lb rear GAWR, and heavy-duty 10R22.5 tires. The truck rides on commercial-size wheels with dual rear wheels and a heavy-duty rear axle. The engine identification plate confirms the Cummins/Ford 5.9L (359 cubic inch) diesel, model B5.9-230. The engine hour meter pictured shows approximately 4,173.8 total hours, remarkably reasonable for a nearly 30-year-old commercial truck. This is exactly the type of older work truck many operators continue to seek out: straightforward mechanical diesel power, a heavy chassis, hydraulic dump equipment, and far fewer electronic and emissions-related systems than a modern medium-duty diesel. Highlights include: 1997 Ford F-800; only 64,000 miles; Cummins B-Series 5.9L 12-valve turbo diesel; engine tag showing B5.9-230; approximately 4,174 engine hours; heavy-duty Heil steel dump body; dual hydraulic ram/cylinder dump hoist; 9,000-lb front GAWR; 21,000-lb rear GAWR; dual rear wheels; 10R22.5 commercial tires; heavy-duty spring suspension; large commercial fuel tank; cab roof clearance lights; large commercial mirrors; and a simple, proven medium-duty chassis. Comparable 1997 F-800 dump configurations were built with PTO-operated hydraulic systems and heavy commercial axles, underscoring how substantial these trucks were designed to be. Potential uses: excavation and dirt hauling, gravel and rock delivery, landscaping, construction, demolition, concrete and asphalt work, paving, road maintenance, municipal/public works, farm and ranch work, agricultural hauling, tree-service debris hauling, firewood delivery, roofing tear-off, property maintenance, snow-removal support, material hauling, site cleanup, recycling, scrap hauling, hauling mulch/topsoil/sand, equipment-yard work, utility contractors, general contractors, and virtually any business needing a rugged medium-duty dump truck. With only 64,000 miles, the legendary 5.9L 12-valve Cummins, roughly 4,174 engine hours, and a heavy-duty dual-ram steel dump setup, this is an increasingly difficult combination to duplicate. These older Cummins-powered F-800s have become desirable work trucks specifically because of their straightforward mechanical design and heavy commercial construction. A serious old-school dump truck built to work — simple Cummins diesel power, heavy-duty chassis, heavy steel dump body, low miles, and ready for its next owner to put it back to work.
