Caterpillar is releasing its first portable inverter generator this month. The INV2000 produces 1800 watts running and 2250 watts starting making it strong enough enough to power camping essentials as well as small to mid-sized power tools like circular saws.  With its less-than-3 percent total harmonic distortion, it can also safely power sensitive electronics.

The new Pilot Control hydraulic system has been introduced to improve precision and smoothness, while giving the operator greater control in critical applications. The new TimberOffice Data Transfer (TODT) mobile application by John Deere will allow users to transfer data such as work and production statistics from forestry machines back to the home office, even when little or no cellular service is available. The application, available for iOS and Android, is currently in market for cut-to-length forestry machines.

The prototype, Mack Pinnacle, recently participated in a one-mile, zero-emission, eHighway demo in Carson, California in partnership with Siemens. The South Coast Air Quality Management District sponsored this demonstration of the Pinnacle’s fully integrated, plug-in, hybrid electric driveline. This served as a stepping stone towards the District’s ultimate goal of reducing air pollution in high-freight locations, like the nearby southern ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, which are two of the largest ports in the United States.

Caterpillar is building on its industrial engine range with the addition of the Cat C13B. This 12.5-liter engine is designed to meet Stage V and Tier 4 Final emission standards. With its 6 cylinders, it combines upgraded air, electrical and aftertreatment systems to produce a range of powers from 340-430 kW and up to 2640 Nm of torque out of a package that is 30 percent lighter at these performance levels, when compared to previous models.
