The 2021 John Deere 850L LGP is a high-performance, low-ground-pressure crawler dozer engineered for heavy earthmoving, site development, road construction, land clearing, pipeline work, landfill operations, and fine grading applications. Powered by a John Deere PowerTech PSS 6090 9.0-liter six-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, the 850L LGP delivers approximately 225 horsepower (168 kW) and produces up to 831 lb-ft (1,126 Nm) of torque. Requires Diesel Exhaust Fluid. The engine meets EPA Tier 4 Final emissions standards and is equipped with advanced fuel-management and aftertreatment systems designed to maximize efficiency while minimizing emissions. The variable-speed cooling fan and automatic reversing feature help keep cooling components clean and operating efficiently in dusty environments. A key feature of the 850L LGP is its dual-path hydrostatic transmission, which provides smooth, infinitely variable speed control and exceptional maneuverability. Unlike traditional powershift transmissions, Deere's hydrostatic drive system independently powers each track, allowing seamless counter-rotation, precise blade control, and improved grading performance. The LGP (Low Ground Pressure) configuration is designed with 35.5-inch-Single Grouser track shoes and an extended undercarriage that distributes machine weight over a larger surface area. With an operating weight of approximately 51,300 pounds (23.27 metric tons), the 850L LGP provides substantial pushing force and traction for demanding applications. The machine is commonly equipped with a Power-Angle-Tilt (PAT) blade measuring 171 inches wide, allowing operators to perform rough grading, finish grading, backfilling, spreading, and ditch maintenance with a single attachment. Many units are also equipped with rear rippers or winches for increased versatility in heavy-duty applications. The operator station features a fully enclosed ROPS/FOPS-certified cab designed for comfort and productivity. The spacious cab includes air conditioning, ergonomic controls, excellent visibility, a premium suspension seat, touchscreen machine monitoring, and available rearview camera systems.
