2024 Caterpillar 289D3 Track Skid Steer

The 2024 Caterpillar 289D3 is a high-performance compact track loader (CTL) designed for demanding construction, grading, excavation, landscaping, material handling, site development, and other applications where traction and low ground pressure are important. It uses a vertical-lift arm design, giving it particularly good reach and dump height for loading trucks and placing material. The 289D3 uses the Cat C3.3B DIT turbocharged diesel engine. It produces 74.3 gross hp and approximately 72.9 net hp, with 195 lb-ft of peak torque. The 3.3-liter engine provides the power needed to operate the loader and hydraulic work tools while maintaining the compact dimensions of the machine. One of the major strengths of the 289D3 is its hydraulic capability Standard Hydraulics: 23gpm, 3,335 psi, approx. 44hp of calculated hydraulic power. High Flow XPS option: up to 32gpm, up to 4,061 psi, approx. 76hp of calculated hydraulic power. The High-Flow XPS configuration makes the machine substantially more capable with hydraulic attachments that require significant flow, such as certain mulchers, cold planers, trenchers, brooms, and other specialized work tools. The 289D3 uses a vertical-lift loader arrangement. The arms travel upward and then forward, allowing the machine to reach farther at maximum lift than a radial-lift design. This makes the 289D3 particularly useful when loading dump trucks, placing material over barriers, stacking material, and working around elevated surfaces. The 289D3's suspended track undercarriage is designed to provide traction, stability and flotation across a variety of ground conditions. With the 450-mm/17.7-inch track configuration, published ground pressure is approximately 4.7 psi, with about 2,272 square inches of ground contact area.
