This Volvo VHD84F300 8x4 dump truck is for haulers who want a 16' body that’s easy to place on tight job sites and still carries a full load at legal weights. The 16' Ox Stampede elliptical body holds about 21 cy and is built from 3/16" AR450 steel on the front, sides, floor, and tailgate, with an 8" rectangular tube longsill and crossmemberless understructure that stand up to rock, demo debris, and other abrasive loads. A telescopic trunnion-mount hoist with power take-off hydraulics, an air-operated tailgate with an internal high lift cylinder, spreader chains, and a 10" dump apron give the driver control over how material comes out, while the electric mesh tarp and full-width 24" cab shield keep loads covered and the cab protected. The 8x4 layout combines a 20,800 lb front axle, a 46,000 lb Hendrickson HMX EX 460 rear suspension, and a 20,000 lb steerable pusher for an 86,000 lb GVWR. The Volvo D13 at 500 hp with an I-Shift Severe Duty automatic, an engine brake, air brakes, a driver-controlled locking differential, and an engine block heater give it the power, control, and traction for a loaded body on grades and soft ground. Air ride seats for both driver and passenger, heated mirrors, and power windows and locks keep the cab comfortable through a full shift, and a 45 ton pintle hitch with gladhands and a 7-way receptacle lets it pull a pup trailer.
