2027 Freightliner 114SD Hooklift Truck - Cummins, 475HP

A hi-rail hooklift lets one truck swap containers at the work site and then run the rail to the next one, so a crew can haul ballast, spoil, or equipment boxes along the line without a separate road truck. The Palfinger HT500L TEC hooklift lifts up to 50,000 lbs and takes containers from 16' to 22', so one hookup covers a range of box sizes. Secondary manual controls are mounted outside the cab, which lets the operator work the hoist from beside the container. The 6x4 Freightliner 114SD underneath has a 20,000 lb front axle and a 46,000 lb rear for a 66,000 lb GVWR, and the double frame adds stiffness under the hoist and the added weight of the rail gear. The Cummins X12 makes 475 hp through an Eaton EXDP18F118D transmission, which gives the truck the power to move a loaded container on road or rail grades. For rail operators who want one truck covering both the hauling and the access to the work zone, it’s a specialized but practical setup.
